A friend, Philippe Joret, a French pastor in Quebec and professional coached, shared some thoughts on values today. I share them here to keep this memory.

We don’t chose our values, we regognize them. What a thought! So many hours are spend by companies and organization choosing values that are “aspirational.” They wish they had this value. But values are already part of who we are. We don’t chose them, we see them.

The writer of the book of James in the Bible says “show me your faith, I’ll show you my works.” This is a similar idea. Your actions say something about you. They speak to your values whether you believe so or not.
